Yukifumi Ueda is Vice President and General Manager of engine, component and supply-chain for engineering and maintenance at All Nippon Airways (ANA), based in Tokyo. He assumed the role in April 2024.
He oversees purchasing, planning, contracts and spare parts supply chain management, as well as in-house and contracted maintenance of engines and components.
Previously, Ueda served as vice president of process transformation and IT planning for engineering and maintenance. With more than 30 years at ANA Group, his experience spans line maintenance, engineering, business and fleet planning, group company management, HR and accounting. He has led the launch of several in-house maintenance companies, contributed to ANA’s transition to a holding company structure, and collaborated with Airbus on establishing Eurocopter T&E (now Airbus Helicopters Japan). He has also represented ANA on the IATA Maintenance Cost Task Force and the Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies (SJAC).
From 1997 to 2003, he was seconded to Air Nippon (now merged into ANA), working as a maintenance programme engineer for Boeing 737s and Bombardier DHC-8s. Earlier in his career, he was an aircraft systems engineer specialising in air-conditioning, pneumatics, hydraulics and fire protection systems.
Ueda began his career in 1992 as a line maintenance engineer in Osaka. He holds a Class 1 Aircraft Maintenance Licence for the Boeing 767 from Japan’s Civil Aviation Bureau, a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Kyushu University (1991), and a master’s in management of technology from the Tokyo Institute of Technology (2018).
