Ian leads the performance, resilience and lifecycle management of an asset portfolio valued at approximately €5 billion and will oversee the forecasted growth of the asset base over the duration of the next capital investment programme at Dublin Airport that is anticipated to more than double in over the next five years.

His responsibilities span terminals, airfield assets, baggage handling systems, utilities, critical infrastructure and more than 170 operational buildings across the Dublin Airport campus, ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of one of Europe’s busiest airports.

Ian played a leading role in establishing Dublin Airport’s ISO 55001-certified Asset Management System in 2015 and continues to lead its ongoing development, implementation and continuous improvement under the standard.

With more than 25 years of experience in aviation infrastructure and asset management, Ian has held senior leadership roles across the daa Group and contributed to the successful delivery of major infrastructure programmes, including Cork Airport Redevelopment, Terminal 2, the Northern Runway, and numerous asset renewal, resilience and capacity enhancement initiatives.

Ian’s expertise spans the full asset lifecycle, from infrastructure design and delivery to maintenance, renewal and whole-life asset optimisation.

Today, Ian is leading Dublin Airport’s transition from reactive maintenance to predictive and condition-based asset management, demonstrating how digital technologies and data-driven decision-making are transforming the management of critical aviation infrastructure. By leveraging condition monitoring technologies, digital twin capabilities, GIS, Maximo MAS9, Power BI and AI-enabled insights, he is enhancing asset reliability, resilience and operational performance while supporting the airport’s future growth and sustainability ambitions.

Ian also champions a strong safety culture, continuous improvement, operational excellence and the development of high-performing teams.

Ian holds a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering and is a Chartered Engineer (CEng, MIEI) with Engineers Ireland. He also holds postgraduate qualifications in Project Management from Trinity College Dublin and Leadership from the Irish Management Institute.
