Darren Macer

Darren is the Principal Senior Technical Fellow for Maintenance Vision, Strategy and Technology. In this role he leads the research, development and implementation of capabilities and technologies, including condition-based maintenance, digital twins and advanced technology.

Darren draws from over 30 years in the aviation industry supporting commercial and military aircraft, with experience across design, manufacturing, operations, modifications and customer support environments.

Darren joined Boeing as a liaison engineer supporting 777 and 747 programmes before transitioning to customer support, where he contributed to development and launch of the Boeing Operations Center and subsequent centres for monitoring flight-test and operational aircraft.

Focusing on aftermarket services and support, Darren has helped to shape the transition from reactive to predictive maintenance, improving operational efficiency. These efforts have resulted in delivery of a regulatory approved condition mased-maintenance capability enabled by an operational digital twin.

Darren is active across the Boeing enterprise, with customers and the broader aviation industry to drive greater understanding and adoption of these capabilities and techniques – from academia, to industry steering bodies and regulators.
